Webinar | The potential of Ukraine – EU biomethane cooperation

We are pleased to invite you to the webinar on Ukraine-EU Biomethane Cooperation titled: “The potential of Ukraine – EU biomethane cooperation” which will take place on February 13, 2025 at 13:00 - 14:30 CET (14:00-15:30 Kyiv time). The event is organised by Forum Energii, the Green Deal Ukraïna project and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

The meeting will be held in English. To take part in it please register via link >>> https://bit.ly/RegistrationBiometanWebinar

Ukraine has recently made biomethane a priority, seeing a high potential for export to the EU, among others. The country adopted a regulation in August 2024 that allows Ukrainian biomethane producers to export to the European Union through the country's gas transmission system, which is connected to four EU countries at interconnection points.  Forum Energii, GIZ and Green Deal Ukraїna have published a report titled: “Harvesting Green Energy: The Potential of Ukraine–EU Biomethane Cooperation,” on the potential of Ukraine-EU biomethane cooperation.

During the webinar panellists will share their perspectives and will focus on the potential and obstacles as well as solutions for biomethane trade between the EU and Ukraine. Panelists will also discuss how the EU’s growing demand for sustainable biomethane, coupled with rising carbon prices, makes it an increasingly attractive market for Ukrainian producers. The session will also address the need for investments in infrastructure and regulatory alignment to unlock the full potential of Ukrainian biomethane exports. Additionally, we will examine how Ukraine can balance its domestic energy needs with export potential and the political commitment required to drive this transition forward.
