People, Cities, Regions Programme

We create and promote solutions to ensure that the transition away from fossil fuels benefits all citizens and citizens, including those who are less well-off and experience various types of exclusion. We combine local action with the shaping of effective national policies, aiming for a transformation that improves the quality of life of citizens.

We work with cities in the area of their sustainable development, particularly: air quality, thermal modernisation of buildings, the future of district heating, local RES potential or urban innovation.

We support coal regions in their energy transition, take measures to increase understanding of the changes taking place, promote economic diversification, strengthen human capital and increase the investment attractiveness of regions. We ensure that old coal-fired power plants are replaced by new, zero-carbon capacity so that the energy system operates safely and cost-effectively.

Projects

LeadAir

We help ambitious and courageous local governments develop and implement solutions for clean air and climate neutrality. We work with people who are looking for knowledge, and  inspiration and are ready to take action to improve the quality of life in cities.
Together with a group of experts we invited to the project, we are developing individual strategies for cities. The results of our activities are currently being implemented by more than 45 Polish local authorities. Our aim is to develop effective solutions, while taking into account local specifics and the expectations of residents.

EU Mission: Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities

We support Polish cities participating in the EU Mission of 100 Climate Neutral Cities by 2030. We are conducting an analysis of social behaviour and technical needs related to modernisation and decarbonisation in selected neighbourhoods in five Polish cities. As part of the Mission, we are working with a coalition of cities, NCBR, government administration, citizens and businesses.
